While Judge Conroy did not allow me to make my prepared presentation, I was able to give the Gandhian plea, "If you believe in what you're doing, give me your stiffest sentence. If you don't, resign". He said that there was nothing he could do about my assertion that 9/11 was an inside job. I said that I didn't expect him to resign, but it was worth considering.
The biggest reaction I observed from the others in court was when I said that I wanted to do penance for our brothers George W. Bush and Dick Cheney. I think they were not fans of our national officials.
The judge gave me the maximum sentence, suspended, the maximum fine of $500 plus court costs, and probation for 18 months. He also ordered psychological evaluation, other testing, and the right to examine my home at will. I refused to sign an agreement to pay the fine and report to the probation officer. I do agree to pay the fine after I have done my penance, and when I have the funds available, and I have no problem with meeting with the probation officer because it's important that the authorities know they have nothing to fear from me, but the wording of the document gave me no alternative.
Being on probation means that I can be sent to jail for leaving Maryland without permission.
I wonder how my probation officer will feel about whistleblower leafleting in DC?
